Karl and Betsy first met at a bowling night birthday party their sophomore year at Miami University. They continued to talk throughout the end of the semester until the summer. Though they were apart for the duration of the summer, they began writing letters back and forth (yes, snail mail) while Karl was studying abroad in Italy. Each evening Karl would anxiously wait for when the Italian lady at the mail desk would put out the day's letters - crossing his fingers that the latest card had arrived from Betsy. This continued for 12 weeks, and it must have worked because upon his arrival back in the USA, Betsy said yes to an official relationship with Karl.
Writing letters back and forth to one another has been a constant theme throughout their relationship. Soon after college, Karl moved from Cincinnati to Texas and then to Washington D.C as his career with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles advanced. Betsy meanwhile had successfully completed two years as a 2nd Grade teacher at a southern Ohio elementary school. During this time of travel and career advancement the two never failed to fall deeper in love with one another and continued to write letters expressing their feelings.
Finally, on the shore of Lake Michigan, Karl popped the question and she said yes! Eleven months later the big day came on June 6th, 2015 - it was the day of the wedding, finally they would never be apart again. Karl and Betsy now live in Washington D.C and love running, biking, attending car shows and going out for dinner with friends. They are thankful for the blessings God has showered on their lives and excited to see where He takes them next!
