ENGAGEMENT: REYN & BRITTANY

Reyn and I (Brittany) both attended Pineville High School together, and while we knew of each other, we had never actually interacted with one another.  After high school, I attended Louisiana Tech University for both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and Reyn attended Northwestern State University for his bachelor’s degree. He is currently in seminary at Asbury University in Kentucky.

On Thursday, June 12, 2014, Reyn and I were getting ready for a rehearsal dinner celebrating our mutual friends Jenna and Evan Sanders.  I was the maid of honor and Reyn was a groomsman for their beach wedding the following day.  That night at the rehearsal dinner, we chatted briefly, he made me laugh, and I thought he was very handsome in his navy button down shirt and white linen pants! The next day while at the reception, Reyn and I spent the night dancing, laughing, and sharing a piece of cake together.  I thought he was such a fun person, but knew he would be going back to Kentucky soon, and I didn’t think there was going to be much of a future between us.  The following day, while driving home, my parents joked about how Reyn “followed” me around all night and was probably “crushing” on me! I told them they were absolutely crazy, and I didn’t notice a thing!  While still driving, Jenna texted me asking if I would give permission for her to give Reyn my number! That night Reyn called me and asked if I would have coffee with him at Tamp & Grind before for he left for Kentucky.  But there was a catch…he was leaving the very next day, so we had to go that night! I thought “What do I have to lose? If it’s bad, I’ll probably never see him again!” Well, it definitely wasn’t bad! We talked until 1:00 in the morning!

The next day Reyn left for Kentucky, and I truly thought there was no way we would work out with him being so far away.  We talked throughout that week, but I had to leave for a mission trip to Honduras that weekend.  While in Honduras, Reyn sent me a Facebook message saying he was praying for me and would love to Skype when I got home to hear about my trip! I was SO excited!  The first time we skyped when I got home, we talked for hours and hours!

Here we are, over a year and a half later, and not much has changed! We still FaceTime for hours, I still get excited to talk to Reyn, and he still makes me laugh more than anyone I know!
